This summer, our leader Dave Burns' Uncle Jack was informed that without someone caring for him at his home in Yuba City, CA, he would be institutionalized due to numerous medical issues including malnutrition. When Dave was in his early teens, he would sneak over to Jack's house between ball practice and dinner at home, where Jack would play him vinyl by Freddie King, Otis Redding, John Coltrane, Taj Mahal, Buddy Miles, Albert King and countless other artists who formed the basis of his development as a musician. Upon hearing about Jack's situation, Dave immediately moved from the Bay Area to Yuba City and has been cooking and caring for his uncle up there ever since. While this has limited the band's live performances of late, Dave has been busy writing the LP we will record this winter and we plan to return to the gig trail late next spring. Meanwhile Uncle Jack has gained 30 lbs and a lot of his strength back. Dave's Dr. Pepper ribs are his favorite - contact us for the recipe!
We are very grateful for the response to our single and can't wait to get into the studio to follow it up. We will see you on the road 2015!
